Red onions

The name of this onion originates in the red outer skin and layers.



Red onions have a slightly milder flavor than yellow onions. This onion is very decorative in salads and is used to garnish dishes. Baked or stewed red onions are sweeter because of the high dry matter content. 

Shelf life

Normally, this onion cannot be preserved as long as the yellow onion.



Red onions that are grown in other parts of the world can have a spicier flavor.



Our Dutch red onions are available from mid August until the beginning of June. Agro Centre Holland can offer Egyptian red onions in June and July.
